Ritual Monsters

Post by Sennatakada on Tue Mar 14, 2017 12:47 am

Ritual monsters are a main deck type of blue colored monster cards. They cannot be normal summoned or special summoned except by an appropriate ritual spell. The summon itself is done by tributing monsters with level equal too (in some cases greater than or equal to) from the hand and field (there are exceptions). They tend to be more powerful than a normal monster counter part.
The disadvantage of ritual monster decks is the reliance on having both a monster and the appropriate ritual spell in hand. For this reason ritual decks have a tendency to have a lot of search cards for this reason cards like MISTAKE shut them down. Another weakness of rituals is there reliance on tributing monsters therefore they also struggle against cards such as MASK OF RESTRICT. Ritual monsters also have a reliance on spell cards so cards like ANTISPELL FRAGRANCE shut them down. A forth disadvantage that unless they are flipped facedown they are always special summoned so cards like FOSSIL DINO can devastate their board as well as the VANITIES series mean they cannot summon.
The advantage of ritual decks is ritual monsters are usually comparable to extra deck monsters in power and effect. And these decks do not rely on an extra deck. Cards like RITUAL SANCTUARY mean these decks normally are quite good in a grind game
